We visited 15 retail outlets that receive a monthly newsletter from the local Business Improvement District (BiD) to talk about how businesses are attracting and retaining teenage employees.

We found that there was a general lack of awareness around the systems currently in place via Local Authority whereby a work permit can be obtained for 13 - 16 year olds, allowing them access to valuable work and life experiences whilst maintaining essential safeguarding requirements.

We ran an article in the newsletter to raise awareness of the system and the benefits it brings both to the teenagers and the businesses themselves.
